About Whoopi- "Your story should inspire them to continue to dream big and overcome adversity.

One way of doing that is empathizing with people who experience hardships."

When someone has experienced hardship, discrimination, or oppression—whether individually or as part of a group—they may respond in one of two ways: by becoming bitter or by growing more compassionate and attuned to the pain of others. Often, empathy born from shared suffering leads to supportive and meaningful action. However, if one dwells too deeply in personal pain, it can hinder the ability to recognize other injustices or lead to the tendency to diminish the suffering of others by comparison.

I think of the Jewish people who lost family members during the Holocaust. They are often the most empathetic and helpful people because they understand what it's like to suffer injustices.
