From now through the rest of the year, Sunday Musings will focus on women in the Bible. Why? Here are a few reasons.
The Bible is often considered misogynistic today.
Religions based on the Bible can take a beating because of their perception of being a “men-only club.”
Women should feel like they have a great history in the Bible. Men should respect that history.
The nurturing characteristics of women revealed in the Bible can inspire us in our own lives and in our respect for women.
Some women in the Bible were really badass and should be inspirations for all of us (men and women).
You don’t have to believe in the Bible to recognize that this book holds a lot of sway in the world in general. Understanding the role of women in a historic tome like the Bible helps cast out old myths so we can better understand the true place of women in the world.
It’ll be fun!
We’ll start next week with an introduction and a guide on how to enjoy the section. Each Sunday after that, we’ll focus on a new woman from the Bible (or perhaps removed from the Bible) and her significance. We’ll also explore why this woman may not get the recognition she deserves. Opportunities to comment, both positively and negatively, will be highly encouraged.
The goal is to eventually turn this weekly newsletter into a book. When the time comes, you’ll even be able to help name the book.
Please share this with anyone you know who likes history, the Bible and/or women.
