Book Club: A New Tuesday Feature!
Welcome to Tuesday Book Club, a new weekly feature. Hand-picked by the Critical Reader, these books have sparked interest, whether they are controversial or simply entertaining. Each book review will last about a month, so about four Tuesdays to explore a book and give a detailed review. Opinions are my own, but I hope to engage all of you in a discussion.
Our first Tuesday Book Club book is Next Gen Marxism by Mike Gonzalez and Katharine Cornell Gorka.
Both authors are conservatives. Gonzalez writes for the Heritage Foundation on topics such as identity politics, and Gorka is a national security analyst who held positions in the Trump Administration. It seems natural for a pair of right-leaning authors to write critically about a left-leaning theory like Marxism, and that may lead some to question if this book could possibly be unbiased.
We’ll cover that during the book club. What’s most important to discuss while reviewing Next Gen Marxism is the history of Marxism itself, how a new-fangled version of Marxism could be guiding recent events, and if we should be concerned.
Why should you follow along each Tuesday?
We can all learn from books, whether we agree with what they have to say or not.
This book club is designed to get you to think like a critical reader and to hold me accountable to think like one, too.
The more people that get involved, the more engaging and fun the Tuesday Book Club will be.
We will discuss all types of books from various angles—there might even be some fiction thrown in here and there—so we can be as well-read and open-minded as possible.
Look for week 1 of the discussion on Next Gen Marxism next Tuesday!
Please share this with others who would enjoy discussing new books.
